Globalisation & development has brought many useful changes in the life
of the human. Are these changes good in toto or are they affecting us
adversely? The question is tricky and so is the answer. We have all the
filters available at fingertips but still, our exposure remains unfiltered. We
wish to have full control of life yet our parental controls are failing. We are
unable to hold back our kids from the digital world, be it idiot box or other
artificial intelligent gadgets.

It is not a new problem; with time the problem has gone further gross with
the development of technology. Kids are getting addicted and convicted
due to unlimited exposure. In earlier times like '80s kids had the
distraction of idiot box (television), 90's kids got further advancement with
the telephone and since 20th-century technology has not seen any
stoppage of inventions and discoveries from the telephone to the phone to
the smartphone the journey is getting uncontrollable.

Today due to overexposure of technology kids have so many avenues to
learn from, which leads to not only smarter kids but kids who lose their
innocence at a very early age. Kids are getting exposure to factors they
are not even mature to understand. And that exposure is not only up to
general knowledge it extends beyond demonstration & training. Due to
this overexposure without guidance & guardian leads to kids getting
destructive, misled, exploited and many more such negative aspects of
human psychology.

In spite of smarter parents and smarter kids, smartphones are winning the
game. Be a smarter user of a smartphone and take control of kids
addiction and overexposure to technology. You as a parent cannot keep
your kid from getting exposed to the digital world & technology, doing
that you are holding him back from learning and matching up with the
world. The older generation even has to get exposed to basic level
technology and they seek help from younger ones, so teachers have to be
ahead of students. In the same way, parents are teachers of their kids,
they need to get more focused on the level of exposure they wish to give
to their kids.

Now the question is how can you control, how can you make the idiot box
a genius box or smartphone users smarter. You do have options by taking
charge; filter the gadget usage, use gadget to teach your kid, can you
divert him/her to other activities in that time frame, can you spend that
time with him/her, can you get involved in the gadget usage together with
him. Lack of time & patience with parents is the major aspect that leads
kids to get more attached to technology. Attention is a major factor driving
a kid and technology offers them that attention in the virtual world. As a
parent, you take charge and divert your kid in a pattern that you achieve
your goal and kid still enjoy.
